Dinghy Berthing Update - Saturday 19th June 2021

Published 19:47 on 19 Jun 2021

On Saturday 19th June we conducted an exercise to move dinghies and trailers to their summer locations

1. Dinghies

Dinghies have been moved to their summer locations and some of the berthing rows have been adjusted so that boats are in the correct location.

If you boat is not where you last saw it, please check the dinghy allocation list in the notice board of the club house. We may have moved its allocated slot. (In order to manage the move 4/5 boats have moved from their allocated slots. These will be reflected in the updated version of the Dinghy Berths document available on the website :

Dinghy BERTH Summer Allocation 2021 HERE ( visible to logged in members )

If you still can't find your dinghy check in the row ofdinghies along the western side of the site south of the kayaks rack.

We have placed dinghies that we can't identify which slot they should go to in this place.

We also found some boats in positions in the dinghy park that have no identification of the owners. We have placed these boats into an area "New Boats into the Club".

This area will be used as temporary dinghy storage area while we place an identification tag and allocate a dinghy spot. This area is shown below and contains a Laser and another boat. These boats were found in a berth allocated to another boat. Could the owners of these boats in the picture below please contact me at dinghyberthing@langstonesc.org.uk and we will arrange for the boat to be tagged and allocated to a berth.

We have also marked out the "roads" on the grass that give the dinghies in some of the back rows with access to the water. Please keep these access paths clear.

2. Trailers.

All the trailers that are not under boats have been moved to the centre of the site. Many of these trailers have no identification tag.

The owners of these trailers have a choice of paying for summer storage or placing them beneath their dinghy in their allocated slot. If the road trailer is too big to fit in the berth, then summer storage must be paid.

For all trailers we expect you to place your trailer under your boat before we instigate summer storage.

3. And Finally

Unfortunately, to move some of these boats we had to cut the locks as the club did not have a copy of the key or the combination of the lock. Please remember, that if you lock your boat down you should supply the club with a key or the combination of the lock). Thankyou to all the dinghy owners who had supplied a key or unlocked their boats in preparation for this move.

Thank you to the work parties who worked hard to move the dinghies and tidy up the site. We now have improved the area and provided more space for parking.
