Report and photos Cobnor Weekend 13 - 14 June
Published 22:25 on 18 Jun 2026
This year we moved the Cobnor camp from the estate field to the Activity Centre next door, which was a great success.
The centre provided us with a large, open sided marquee, plenty of picnic tables, a BBQ and a lovely camp kitchen, which was well equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave and plenty of mugs, plates and cutlery plus a large fridge and freezer for communal use.
The Firepit area was great too, and next year I'm sure the Pizza Oven will get some use.
Beautiful weather greeted the early arrivals on Friday evening, including kayakers Jo and Lou who enjoyed an evening paddle up to Bosham.
About 40 people took part this year, with 8 dinghies.
The fleet set off around 10.30 on Saturday with a moderate wind behind them, and made good time, arriving about 2.00pm. Luke and Jay did great work sorting out the BBQ, while the kids played football, then cricket on the field.
This was followed by singing round the Firepit lead by Jonno and Dave, jokes and later ghost stories from Luke and marshmallows galore for everyone.
Many thanks to everyone for making the weekend such a success, especially to Ian for briefings and on the water safety, Jane and Mark for help with planning and Risk Assessments and our Safety boat crews. We hope to see even more people on the water next year, as this is a great chance to not only sail, but get to know your fellow members better.
