Dear members,

We hope that you are all keeping safe and well.
With new government guidance and risk assessments performed by the club, here are some updates and changes in the status of the life of the club:

  • The dinghy park is now available for use. Dinghies can be brought to the club or moved from their winter berths. There are no allocated berths this year - the cable closest to the club is reserved for club-owned boats, otherwise choose your spot in the boatpark.
  • A limited selection of club dinghies will be available for rental from Saturday 18th July. All boats MUST be reserved through the website in advance. Each booking is for 1 DAY but blocks the boat for 3 days to allow time for natural decontamination of the boat after use. More details on the club website.
  • To assist with launching dinghies a new buoy has been placed between the slipway and the pontoon close to shore. This allows single-handers to attach their boat to it whilst dealing with their trolley. There is also a sinking line running from the slipway to the pontoon which can be used to help pull a dinghy or tender between the slipway and the pontoon.
  • Picnic benches and the terrace are now available for use - look out for buckets and sponges for washing them down before and after use. The western edge of the dinghy park can also be used for picnicking if you bring your own chairs/blankets.
  • Members are now being asked to "badge-in" on arrival at the club to assist with NHS Test and Trace, using any of the club badge-readers (barriers and doors). In the event of contact from the NHS Test and Trace team this record of visits will be shared with them.
  • Parking - there is not as much parking available at the rear of the site as in other years. More will be freed up as dinghies move into the dinghy park but please ensure you do not park blocking access to the slipway, the dinghies or the roadways/barriers. Also do not park along the western edge of the dinghy park - this area is being reserved for picnicking.

VOLUNTEERS:

To be able to carry out any events on the water we need safety boat crews.
To comply with the Covid guidelines the crews must come from the same household. They must also hold an RYA Safety Boat Certificate or have an equivalent level.

    .
If you meet the criteria and are willing to take on safety boat duties, please email covid@langstonesc.org.uk

Please remember:

  • Changing rooms are still closed - please arrive ready to sail or change in your car / boatpark.
  • The clubhouse is closed except for access to the toilets - there is also a portaloo outside the club.
  • Government guidelines must always be respected - this includes distancing guidelines as well as gathering size. Government guidance is currently restricting groups to 2 households or no more than 6 people from different households all at 2m or 1m plus mitigation, and this applies to all areas of the club.
Gatherings over 30 people are illegal - but, strangely enough, only on land, not water !
